Comfort TV shows

In times of great hardship, comfort TV shows can provide a much needed escape from reality. With the current social climate and uncertainty, it can be helpful to turn to an age-old friend in such moments of need. Whether you’re looking for solace, comfort, or a smiling face to bring a little bit of light into your day, I’m here to help you find the perfect show to help you through whatever you’re going through. Here are a few of the classics we think of when it comes to "comfort TV".

First up we have,

The Office

This workplace comedy follows the everyday trials and tribulations of the employees of Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. While the show does deal with some more serious themes from time to time, for the most part it is a light-hearted and feel-good show that is sure to make you laugh. The relatable characters and their hilarious antics are sure to provide a much needed distraction from whatever is going on in your life.

Next we have,

Parks and Recreation

The second workplace comedy on our list, Parks and Recreation follows the employees of the Parks and Recreation department of Pawnee, Indiana. This show is jam-packed with laughs and features some truly lovable characters. While the show does have its fair share of heartwarming moments, it is mostly a light and fluffy show that will leave you with a smile on your face.

One of my personal favorites,

Bob's Burgers

This follows the Belcher family who runs a struggling burger restaurant.  This family shows pure love and support for each other, even if they don't always understand completely what's going through any of their heads.  The show highlights being a little weird and embraces it.  It touches on some hard topics but overall comes across as light-hearted with a ton of quotable lines throughout.

A long-running classic,

The Simpsons

This show has been on the air since the late 80's and continues to be an enduring cartoon that covers everything that life can throw at the Simpson family.  The show has a reputation of predicting future events and delivering laughs in every episode.

And last but not least,

Friends

This 90s sitcom follows the lives of a group of friends living in New York City. While the show does deal with some more serious topics from time to time, it is primarily a feel-good show about the importance of friendship. If you’re looking for a show that will make you laugh and feel all the warm and fuzzies, then this is the show for you.

So there you have it, some great comfort TV shows to help you through whatever you’re going through. If these aren't enough to help you through what you're going through, therapy may be something that can help you get through those hard times.
